Geographically challenged

The driving lessons will continue at a later date.  Boy oh boy, could I lay one on you tonight, but there are other things afoot.  WTH does "afoot" mean, anyway?  Seriously!

I found out a few weeks back that I'd be attending the Kentucky state convention.  OK, no problem.  I've never been to that one, but I have some customers that I'm excited to meet.  Last week, when I got my airline information, I saw that I was flying in to Cincinnati.  My first thought was, "There's a Cincinnati in Kentucky?"

Yeah, I really did.

Apparently, we stay in Cincinnati, but it's a short hop across a bridge to be in Kentucky.  Hmm, interesting.  I had NO idea that Ohio touched Kentucky.  Sad?  Oh honey, this ain't the half of it.

I am well aware of which states touch Missouri.  I can even picture the shape of most of them, and pinpoint the major cities in a couple.  I was shocked, however, when I was at an Iowa convention, and was told we'd have dinner in Omaha.  Huh?  Yeah, I'm lame like that.

When I hear that I'm going to a state in which I know someone, I email them to ask if we can meet up.  I often find that they're 4 hours away from where I'll be.  *sigh*  I should do more research, or be more informed, or go back to 4th grade.  Something.  I'm not good at this stuff.

So, if you live in Mission, TX (like my Aunt does in the winter) and I find I'm going to Ft. Worth:  I will probably call you and ask if you want to have lunch.  When you announce that it would be a 10 hour drive, I'll sound shocked and amazed.

I'm just sayin'.

All I can say is, there will be stupid pictures coming soon, from Ohio or Kentucky or Utah or Canada...or something.  Braille room number anyone?

When my husband asked me to marry him, he asked me if I would live in South Dakota with him. I had to look at a map before I answered him!

LOL I had a highway incident yesterday w/my mom and daughter. Me on the highway and to my left an ACCELERATION RAMP, have to capitalize that because...the lady behind the wheel decided to make a stop sign at the end of said ramp and then proceed onto highway and I had to slam my brakes on.
LOL just thought I'd share.

I live just north of Cincinnati about an hour away. Kentucky and Cincinnati are just a hop skip and a jump (if you have long legs) from one another. It's kinda neat down there. Hope you enjoy your trip! Take care,

I'm geographically dyslexic too! (((hug))) I feel your pain. California is bad too. Did you know L.A. and San Fran aren't right next to each other???

And to add to the confusion there is a Cincinnati TN which is in the south of the state. I'm just saying.

OMG Rachel, that is TOO funny. (For this Cincinnati native.) What's even funnier is that airport code for Cincinnati is CVG, making no sense until you learn that it's short for Covington, KY.

It's not at all uncommon for folks to range from bewildered to pissed when they find out that a taxi to downtown Cincy will cost $40. Usually these folks are from Manhattan where the closest airport is... A $50 taxi ride from LGA or JFK!

Now for a real giggle, imagine my GPS rambling, "Arriving at (pause for breath, I think) The Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport."

That's a mouthful for a device weighing 7 ounces!
